loss of sleep

I've been up since 5:30, an hour before my alarm has gone off - and at this point (6:10) - why even try and bother going back to sleep. I woke up hungry (I wonder why that happens - I went to bed stuffed and needed antacid!) and I can't sleep when I'm hungry. Also my eye is bothering me - been having some annoying dry eye issues since I did yoga last week, and then wore contacts while sailing (duh - all that wind).

Argh I would have loved that extra hour of sleep - oh well - back to a caffeine-infested day! *grumble*

I decided to indulge in a Whole Foods cup of gazpacho and a package of spicy tuna & salmon sushi rolls (8).

Mmmm... was yummy! :-)

Naptime? For some reason I still have jetlag and I'm not getting enough sleep :(

DEATH NOTICE

Please join us in remembering a great icon -- the veteran Pillsbury
spokesman. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and
complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was
buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to
pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California
Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The
gravesite was piled high with flours. A longtime friend, Aunt Jemima,
delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who never knew how much
he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life
was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie,
wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little
flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model
for millions. Toward the end, it was thought he would rise again, but,
alas, he was no tart. Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two
children, John Dough and Jane Dough, and they had one in the oven. His
elderly father, Pop Tart, also survives him. The funeral was held at 350
for about twenty minutes.

Good Grief - I go to California for 3-4 days and I can't seem to get off that timezone.. and I've been back since Monday! I can't seem to go to bed before 1 or 2am - end up getting only 5-6 hrs of sleep for 3 days in a row and now I'm totally exhausted. (I need between 7-8 hrs a night to function properly) *sigh* and on the flipside it was WAY too easy to get used to the Pacific time zone.

Bathroom Weirdness

So I walked into the bathroom at work and I hear someone speaking in one of the stalls. Normally... this sort of thing does not phase me - when people talk to each other over the stalls... but this person was on her cell phone!.. or she was having a one-sided conversation with herself because I was the only other person in there.

Eh. Just something unexpected I guess :-)

I spent the evening with my parents tonight - I kept turning on the tv, and watching the sox botch an inning... and then turning it off... and then turning it on... hmmm the Yankees have two outs... watch for a while... even got my parents to watch some! Now that is shocking... even though it was for maybe a total of two minutes! Finally left their place around 9:45 or so... game still going on... and on... and on.. Got home - Mark intently watching game... told him not to get too upset and said he couldn't yell at the tv now that I was home... of course I ate my words when I see Ortiz trying to steal second (M sez: WTF!?!? And why can't Johnny Damon bunt!?) and I jump up and start yelling at the tv...

so.. the point of this post? not sure... but... GO SOX!!!! YAY!

Yesterday the LJ site was blocked from work.. the notice said something about it being... "a tasteless site".
Needless to say - I wasn't very happy about it since I tend to do my lurking during the day at lunchtime or during slow periods...

But now it's back! Go figure... I wonder if someone complained about it being blocked....

Italy was excellente! Lots of great wine, pasta, gelato, sun, and museums! I actually also managed to write a journal for our first few days of our trip that I will try to post on LJ soon.

slow day

wow - it's a really slow day at work today. I do have things I need to work on... but nothing pressing. I think the highlight of this work day was heading over to the Roche Bros. supermarket in Wellesley and getting myself a salad there. Salad bar there is a lot nicer, fresher, has more variety than the one at work and it's about the same price. They also have a sushi chef there - but I haven't ventured and tried their sushi yet. I'm always hesitant about packaged supermarket sushi... I'm sure it's fine though - they make it fresh in front of you. The other thing I like about this supermarket - is that the produce is nice looking. I haven't really bought any - but I it's definitely nicer than the S&S near me (which they seem to be completely overhauling) and I think it's actually less pricey than Whole Foods- but I can't confirm that yet. I know Russo's isn't far from me in terms of produce - but for some weird reason - I never seem to go there. Old habits die hard maybe?
